Anthony Mackie, who recently took on the role ofCaptain Americain the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has opened up about the challenges his character will face as he takes on the mantle of leading the Avengers.

In a recent interview withEmpire Magazine, Mackie discussed his concerns about his character’s ability to lead the Avengers. “Sam is the only character without superpowers. He’s just a regular dude hanging out with a bunch of weirdos,” Mackie said. “Being from New Orleans, I’ve been in a few fights. And heart and charisma never helped me in a fight. That usually just got me beat up. So that might cause an issue when you go fight somebody like Thanos.”
Mackie’s Captain America is different from his predecessor, Steve Rogers, which will be reflected in his approach to leadership. While Rogers was a strong and authoritative leader, Mackie’s character is more relatable and understands the complexities of real-world issues. Mackie believes that his character’s empathetic nature will make him a better leader, allowing him to connect with the other Avengers on a personal level. Mackie has also discussed the importance of representation in the MCU in the past. As the first Black actor to play Captain America, he brings a unique perspective to the character. He believes this is an opportunity to show young Black children that they can be heroes too, and don’t have to conform to the traditional superhero mould.
