Every contract inAssassin’s Creed Miragefeatures a bonus objective players can complete for extra favor tokens and other resources. Most of them are straightforwardlike “don’t get spotted” and “kill the target with fire.”

However, the contract “The Kidnapped Scholar” has an unusual bonus objective: do not kill anyone. That’s a surprisingly tall order for an assassin, and while players have nonlethal tools like sleeping darts, it’s possible to complete thisAssassin’s Creed Miragecontract without being so much as spotted by the bandits who kidnapped the scholar in question.

How to Get Started

“The Kidnapped Scholar” is one of the second set of six contracts players can get fromthe Hidden Ones Bureaus. It’s especially valuable since it provides two skill points along with scholar’s tokens and components. Players who complete the bonus objective get even more scholar’s tokens and some bonus money.

The scholar is in the middle of the Badaraya Sands Camp. This location isnorthwest of the Oasis viewpoint and southwest of the Observatory viewpoint. The best way to approach the camp is to climb the rocks to the south since none of the bandits can see Basim from this angle.

How to Rescue the Scholar Without Bloodshed

Once players approach the Badaraya Sands Camp, it helps tomark all the bandits with Enkidu. Most of them are out in the open, so players should be able to get everyone from one or two locations.

If players approach the camp from the south, they can jump down behind the watchtower bandit and use the tall grass to avoid attention. The only bandits to really worry about are the pair who patrol around the camp moving clockwise. Wait for them to pass, then hurry over to the tall grass next to the central storage area. The scholar is here on the ground. However, he’s injured and can’t move on his own.

Players must use the grab button (Y on an Xbox controller) to pick up the scholar. The scholar takes up a lot of space and likes to talk, but fortunately, these issues won’t make it any harderto sneak back out of camp. On the other hand, Basim can’t use his hands to climb while he’s carrying the scholar, so the only way to leave is on the ground level.

This is where the long grass comes in handy again. If players go back the way they came, they can move from one patch of grass to another to get around the watchtower and eventually leave the trespassing zone. The bandit on the watchtower will see Basim leaving, but he’s far enough away that players should reach the grass outside the camp before his indicator turns yellow.

At this point, players are free and clear, but the contract won’t end until Basim carries the scholar a few dozen meters further from the camp. Once it’s safe, the game will tell players to put down the scholar. Do so by hitting the grab button again. The scholar will stand up, and a conversation prompt will appear. Once the scholar finishes talking, the contract will end and players will get their rewards.
