Baki Hanma
Baki is the show’s titular protagonistand has demonstrated immense strength from a young age. He spends much time honing his skill, strength, and endurance as he strives to defeat his father.
Conquering the no-rules arena is no easy feat, but Baki achieved that at just fifteen years old, even besting the fighters in the Underground Arena in Tokyo and earning the name of World’s Strongest Boy with his mixed martial arts style. Unlike the monster he has for a father, he is kindhearted, respectful, and protective of those he loves.

Yujiro Hanma
Yujiro is Baki’s father and the son of Yuichiro, who also acts as the overarching antagonist of theBakiseries. He is well known to be the strongest character in the series and works as a mercenary for various countries and organizations that are willing to pay the humongous fee it takes to procure his services.

He employs many forms of martial arts, but his sheer strength is all he needs to dispatch those who stand in his way. He is also one of two people to have gone against the entire US army and dominated them.
Doppo Orochi
Doppo Orochi is one of the oldest characters inBakiat 56 years old. He has been training in several martial arts styles since he was six, growing up to lead the Shinshinkai Karate School, which he practically invented.
As a strong, wise, and caring man, he strives to impart his knowledge and good values to the younger generation. He also never backs down from a fight, no matter the opponent, be it Yujiro or a Siberian tiger, as it is one of thecore principles of his karate style.

Gerry Strydum
Gerry is a US army general who befriended Yujiro after theirfirst meeting on the battlefield, where he nearly died by his hand. His admiration for Yujiro grew, and he decided to travel the world at Yujiro’s side, fighting on battlefields and in tournaments together.
He also mentors Baki and updates him about Yujiro’s activities. Although he is a loyal friend of Yujiro’s, he disagrees with Yujiro’s cruelty and lack of mercy in certain situations and seems to take Baki’s side in their father-son conflict.

Hanayama Kaoru
The strongest Yakuza boss in Japan, Kaoru Hanayama, is a nineteen-year-old with a collection of scars that make him look older than he really is. He cares for Baki like his brother and always comforts him whenever needed.

However, that affectionate demeanor is only reserved for his mother, Baki, and a handful of people. Due to the death of his father, the big responsibility of leading the Yakuza was mounted on his shoulders from a young age, and he has done exceptionally well handling it.
Jack Hanma
Jack Hanma is one of Yujiro’s sons and half-brother of Baki, who also dreams of surpassing his father to avenge the assault on his mother. He sometimes gets lost in his quest for revenge, ingesting super steroids to perform training regiments that would instead be suicidal.
His fighting style is unrefined due tohis lack of technique, and as a result, he often does crazy things, like biting an opponent during a match. He sees Baki as a rival but also cares for him as a younger brother.

Kureha Shinogi
Kureha is the doctorwho treats most of the fighters, capable of performing incredible medical feats on the human body, like kickstarting a person’s heart with only his bare hands. He has trained his body to the limit, gaining the traits of several Olympic athletes, and he believes medical knowledge is superior to martial arts.
Before his defeat at the hands of Baki, he was an arrogant and selfish person who treated his patients like guinea pigs, but he has always shown concern for the health of others.

Katsumi Orochi
Katsumi Orochi is the adoptive son of Doppo, who starts out arrogant due to his innate talent for the Shinshinkai karate style. He is always looking for a way to improve himself and slowly matures into a good person and a great fighter after his match against Pickle.
He always gets back up after losing, seeing losses and battles in general as a way of improving, and constantly seeking to rematch his opponent and give it his all to beat them. He can also be fierce, as shown in his battle against Dorian, wherehe sets him on fire.

Kaiou Retsu
Kaiou Retsu, like Kaiou Kaku, is a great user of Chinese Kenpo, who started out as an antagonist but became one of the main characters later on. He believed Chinese Kenpo was the strongest in the world before acknowledging the strength of the other fighting styles and deciding to learn all he could from the Shinshinkai Dojo.
Retsu can easily deduce the weaknesses and strengths of a fighting style after seeing it once, like all master fighters. Ultimately, his arrogance and overconfidence in his power were his undoing.

Pickle
The prehistoric man, Pickle, is a relic of time preserved in a rock formation before being unearthed in the present. He is a very tall human with features that accurately depict his era, like sharp claws and strong canines that allowed him to hunt dinosaurs easily.
Pickle also has a superbody that is essentially bulletproof, even from point-blank range. His only known weakness is his lack of intelligence due to being a caveman, but his pure instincts and overwhelming physical ability are more than enough compensation.
