Baldur’s Gate 3has had a wide variety of interesting features added to the full version of the title that players were unable to experience during the early access. One great example of this is players now having the capability of creating their own potions, elixirs, or grenades, through the alchemy tab.

While adventuring inBaldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)players are likely to find all sorts of ingredients that will help them create the best potions to use both in and out of battle. Potions are by far one of themost crucial things players should be collectingand therefore, these are the potions players should always have in their inventory.
7Potion Of Animal Speaking
Being able to speak to animals is one of the many features that makeBaldur’s Gate 3a fascinating CRPG. The animals players are likely to encounter both out in the wild and inthe city of Baldur’s Gatecan give players hints on completing quests or entirely new adventures to go on. However, to talk to these animals, players need to use the Speak to Animals spell.
In some cases, a player may not have a spellcaster that can do this ritual and therefore that is when the usefulness of thePotion of Animal Speakingcomes into play. This works exactly like the spell and therefore a player will be able to talk to animals until their next long rest, making it a great potion to have on standby.
6Potion Of Feather Fall
Jumping down from a great height can cause the death of a player’s character or party member. Thankfully spells like Feather Falling allow players to gently glide to earth without the worry of taking a heap load of damage and likely falling prone.Feather Fallis likely to be used outside of combat to get to a low ground rather than used in combat unless players are at risk of being pushed.
In some cases, a player doesn’t want towaste a spell sloton this sort of magic and therefore this is another spell that has its own potion counterpart. Unlike Animal Speaking, this doesn’t last until a long rest and therefore can only be used for ten turns.
5Potion Of Glorious Vaulting
Similarly to Feather Fall, Glorious Vaulting is another potion that players are likely to use regularlyoutside of combat. After drinking this potion, a player will have ten turns of increased distance of leaping. This allows them to jump triple the normal distance they could before.

While this can be used in battle to get to the higher ground, players are more likely to be using this potion to reach chests that have been placed in areas that an individual can’t get easily. Once again, this is another potion that also has a spell players can use instead but this way they don’t waste a spell slot.
4Potion Of Invisibility
Getting the upper hand in a battle through surprise can give players all the benefits they need to win a fight. Sneaking is one simple way to get this advantage, but another way is by going invisible to get to a vantage point. While there are spells that can make one member of the party invisible, a spellcaster can’t concentrate on every member of the party.
Thankfully a potion like thePotion of Invisibilitycan be easily crafted allowingeven the none spellcastersof the party to become transparent to foes. Drinking this concoction will last for ten turns and then the player will be revealed once more. This effect can end sooner if the user of the potion does an action.
3Antidote
Besides potions that give players new effects, there is even one that removes them. Being poisoned inBaldur’s Gate 3is no joke. Many areas of the game arefilled with poison trapsto protect treasure or foes that love to poison the player and their party members to whittle away at their health.

Thankfully there are ways to cure this that don’t include using a healing spell. In BG3, players can craft Antidotes, this potion works instantly to remove the poisoned effect from the player and only requires a bonus action to use it. This allows a player to cure themselves while also being able to attack on the same turn.
2Potion Of Speed
Being able to attack once and using only one bonus action a turn for each character can feel quite limiting during some battles. Thankfully there are spells and potions that allow players to do a lot more during their turn. Spells of Haste allows a player to have a second bonus action and move further.
ThePotion of Speeddoes a similar thing allowing a player to have this extra bonus action while leaving their spellcasters to do damage. Potions of Speed are also a mustfor any Fighteras at later levels this will essentially allow a player to attack multiple times on a single turn as the player would use their bonus action to use Action Surge.
1Potion Of Greater Healing
Unsurprisingly, by far the best potion that any player should have in their inventory has to be a healing potion. As players advance through the story, they will unlock the recipes for stronger healing potions that will help them regain their hit points whena healing spellisn’t available.
While there are even better healing potions than the Greater Healing Potion, this is by far the best cure for any health issue the player may be having. After consuming this potion using a bonus action the player will receive four d4 plus four hit points back.
Baldur’s Gate 3is out now on PC and is set to release on September 6th, 2023, for PlayStation 5, an Xbox release date is yet to be announced.
