Announced back at E3 2018 and shown off a year later at E3 2019, Microsoft’s reboot ofBattletoadshas fallen directly off the radar, with little to no information coming out about the next game in the franchise. As many will remember from the reboot’s reveal in June last year, the title looked pretty deep into development, with the trailer showing off a variety ofBattletoads’levels and mini-games.

As it turns out,Battletoadsmight not be staying silent for much longer, with a new parental rating from Brazil seeing the game receive an age certificate. Although that doesn’t entirely confirm anything, it does hint that the game is a significant ways into development, perhaps to the point of dropping much earlier than fans may think.

The actual parental advisory warning can be found on the federal government of Brazil’s website and declares thatBattletoadswill be certified “not recommended for children 14 or under” for both the Xbox One and the PC. Investigating further will allow viewers to see that the reasoning behind this rating is that the game contains “sexual content” and “violence,” which would make sense seeing as the old school beat em up had a raunchy sense of humor. While there’s no confirmation that the game’s certification means its coming out soon, it’s definitely a good sign that some major news regarding the reboot is likely to be on its way. Considering thatXbox announced today that it would be holding its first-party showcase on July 23, it seems likely fans will get some new information regarding the game at the major event.

As for the reboot itself, it seems some have mixed feelings with the direction Microsoft has decided to take with the colorful video game icons, withBattletoadsusing an almost caricature, hand-drawn art style reminiscent of retro cartoons. Some have claimed that the title looks sluggish too, while others have called out smaller details of the gameplay trailer. Regardless, it’ll be interesting to hear more about the game in the coming weeks, with it looking likely that Microsoft is gearing up for a big new reveal.

Speaking of the major Xbox Series X event, it appears likely Microsoft will drop a number of major reveals on its long-awaited broadcast. Some have posited thata newFablegame could be shown at the event, while others have seemed confident thatPerfect Darkcould make a comeback as well. As for confirmed parts of the show, fans know thatHalo: Infinitewill finally be getting gameplay, which is undeniably a major incentive to tune in.

Battletoadsis currently in development for Xbox One and PC.
