Although developer Infinity Ward has remained relatively silent since its announcement,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s battle royale mode has been generating muchspeculation following loading screen leaks.Now, the newest leak has provided fans with some more insight on what’s to come.
Despite some severe glitches,Call of Duty: Modern Warfarehas had a successful launch. Its first Battle Pass season was even extended to fully release all the new content and allow its players more time to unlock the rewards. However, fans are currently concerned that this success will not translate to the upcoming Battle Royale mode.

After whispers thatModern Warfare’sBattle Royale mapwould be released soon, leakers revealed when both the mode would be released and provided a look at some of the maps. While some fans eagerly responded to the information, Twitter user Idle Sloth noticed an important detail. WhileCall of Duty’s new Warzone map was an average size for a battle royale game, it was meant for 200 players - double the normal number of players in a game likeFortniteorPlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.What’s more, Idle Sloth said, the Warzone map was even smaller than Sanhok, one ofPUBG’s smallest battlefields.
As withprevious Warzone leaks,Infinity Ward has declined to comment. However, if this information is to be believed, then fans' criticisms are valid. By doubling the number of players, the map will be prone to overcrowding. Other Twitter users also expressed concerns that the number of players would affect how quickly the level’s circle shrinks. If the map cannot handle all the players, gameplay could descend into chaos.
Ultimately,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Warzone battle royale is still in development. While the player response is warranted, Infinity Ward still has time to make adjustments or delay the game mode as it has with other features in the past.
