Modern Warfare 3’s new update also changes an assortment of weapons and items. Firstly, the VFX while usingModern Warfare 2weapons has been adjusted to match the effects seen while usingModern Warfare 3weapons, making the older options easier to use. Also, the update removes variance from ADS idle sway for all weapons. Now, every gun has the same ADS idle sway motion curve, which should make this aspect of aiming more consistent and predictable. As for weapon balancing, a total of 24 guns are changed, including nerfs to the MCW, BAS-B, Rival-9, and Striker-9, and buffs to the Sidewinder, RAM-9, AMR9, and Bruen Mk9. Additionally, the Stun is nerfed by decreasing its aim slowness effects, and the Flash is nerfed by decreasing its close-range flash duration by half a second.

Season 3 introduces a bunch of quality-of-life improvements as well, such as finally making seasonal cinematic cutscenes skippable, filtering options for operators, new audio test settings for speakers, and unlock requirements forModern Warfare 3’s weapon masteryemblems being displayed in the customization menu. Additionally, users who queue with one or more friends now receive bonus XP, with the max reward giving a party of four or more a 30% boost for rank, weapon, and battle pass XP.

GAMEPLAY

Our next step toward improving the feeling of aiming across all input devices in Modern Warfare III arrives in Season 3. As previously detailed, aimed down sight idle sway discourages players from holding their sights for an extended period of time with a constant, subtle motion that introduces slight inaccuracy.

In today’s update, we’ve removed variance from aimed down sight idle sway, resulting in a predictable and consistent motion curve. This change raises the skill ceiling and rewards players who take the time to master their favorite Weapons.

The Holger 556 now requires shots to land above the waist for a 4-shot kill.

With the MCW, 1 headshot will no longer result in a 4-shot kill.

The JAK Outlaw-277 Kit is now a maximum of 2-shots to kill to all body locations.

All changes considered, the incendiary damage output of Thermite is increased by 33%.

Note: Swarm balance adjustments went live in an update prior to Season 3.
