For many though, the biggest part of the reveal is the competitive multiplayer side and thankfully, Sledgehammer has seemingly made sure it will be robust at launch. At launch on November 5,Call of Duty: Vanguardwill have 20 maps, 16 of which will have been hand crafted for the game’s core gameplay. This number should please fans as it’s a higher number than what most traditional Call of Duty games typically launch with.

In addition to maps, Sledgehammer has also made a point to offer fans more ways to play. To this end, Vanguard will have a more advanced version of the Gunsmith and Calibur systems which Activision promises will bring immersive and reactive environments to a new level. Things like mounted weapons can be moved and maps will have breakable elements like weak structures or wood, to open new vantage points and paths.

In addition, thefan favorite game mode Gunfight, a 2v2 multiplayer mode originally introduced inside the 2019 release ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, is also getting upgraded. Now known as Champion Hill, the press release hints that this Gunfight variant mixes Battle Royale elements with the small, fast paced action it has become known for. Eight teams battle in a series of head-to-head battles across four maps with the winners being the last team standing. Players can enter as Solo, Duos, or Trios.

Along with game details, players who want to get in on the action prior to its November 5 launch,Activision revealedVanguardpre-order bonuses. In addition to early access to the open beta, digital pre-orders can also instantly unlock the Night Raid Mastercraft gun for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
