Call of Duty: Warzoneand sniping often go hand-in-hand, with the massive maps and large player counts giving players plenty of reasons to head to a vantage point and take down enemies from range. According to professional player NICKMERCS, however, there should only be one weapon snipers are using inCall of Duty: Warzonethis season.
While NICKMERCS has spent the past week commenting onCall of Duty: Warzone’s DMR problem, the FaZe member is back to providing loadouts for fans of the free-to-play battle royale game. In his latest video, NICKMERCS focuses on the Kar98k. While the World War 2 era weapon dominated at several points inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s life cycle, it seems like its time to shine inCall of Duty: Warzoneis not yet over.

With sniper scopes providing amajor advantage inCall of Duty: Warzoneat the moment, NICKMERCS’ Kar98k loadout comes at the perfect time. The pro player equips a Monolithic Suppressor in the muzzle slot, a must-have attachment in all his loadouts due to its damage bonus and ability to hide players from radars. The Barrel is a Singuard Custom 27.6”, which adds velocity, and the Tac Laser is used for aim down sight speed. A traditional sniper scope is also equipped.
In his video on the weapon, NICKMERCS highlights just how good the gun can be when wielded by a skilled player — maybe even giving players a chance againstthe soon-to-be nerfed DMR 14. Dropping foes with ease and racking up multi-kills with the weapon, the professional player makes the weapon look incredible. According to NICKMERCS, the Kar98k “has always been the fastest way to put someone down.” Adding that it has been one of the best options inCall of Duty: Warzone“for as long as [he] can remember,” NICKMERCS’ high praise for the gun is a good sign of its quality.
Admittedly, NICKMERCS does warn that sniping is “not always the best option” inCall of Duty: Warzone. While it is incredibly satisfying, its drawbacks, such as being ineffective at close range, make sniping a high-risk and high-reward gameplay style. Still, whileMAC-10 SMG loadoutsare more viable and likely to get players a win, NICKMERCS believes that using the Kar98k is the move if players only “want to have some fun” in their matches.
With some playersconsideringCall of Duty: Warzoneunplayableat the moment, now may be the time to give the Kar98k a shot. Guaranteed to lead to a fun game based on the footage shown by NICKMERCS, it is hard not to be tempted to give the sniper rifle a chance.
