In the world of horror gaming, The Farm 51’sChernobyliteoffers something a little different. It has a similar vein to thenow-delayedSTALKER 2, but while it pertains to the lesser traveled realm of games that take place in the Exclusion Zone of Chernobyl, the former throws in a myriad of ideas, from base building, to role-playing elements, all within a horror-laced plot about the loss of a loved one. The release has enjoyed some success on PC, and previous-gen consoles, but it’s now set to arrive on the PS5 and Xbox Series very soon.
According to the All in! Games SA website, the company that published the somewhateerie and mysteriousChernobylite, the game will be coming to current-gen systems on April 21. The post on the publisher’s site says that new versions will be available as a free upgrade to anyone who already has the game on PS4 or Xbox One. The new updates will also come with two new graphic profiles, which will be 4K at 30 FPS, and 1080p at 60 FPS, with the PS5 port getting additional functions for the DualSense Controller, such as adaptive trigger buttons.

On top of that, PC players will be able to get a free upgrade to the Enhanced Edition, which will be arriving at the same time. Like the current-gen consoles upgrades, the new PC version will come with improvements to the visuals, including addingray tracing which is something of an industry standard these days. As if that wasn’t enough, the publisher also says that there will be some new content arriving this year, called “Blue Flames,” and will be available on all platforms.
Chernobylitehas received a number of new updatessince being released, which adds new areas and new monsters.Blue Flameswill add a new weapon, the Silent Assassin crossbow, and what appears to be a new part of the plot called “Memories of You” in which players will get to learn a little bit more about protagonist Igor and Tatyana’s backstory. At the moment, there is no release date for this DLC, but it is due out in 2022, the website says. There will also be some “paid content” coming, but there are no details about that yet.
There’s a surprising amount to do inChernobylite, and its horror setting based in the Exclusion Zone gives it a creepy oppressive air, and its roster of human hostiles and radioactive monsters that phase in and out can make it quite a challenge. Players who have the current PC or console versions will no doubt be excited about the Enhanced Edition and current-gen upgrades, not to mention the next DLC due out at some point.
Chernobyliteis available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and will be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X on April 21, along with the Enchanced Edition for PC.
