God of War Ragnarokvoice actor Christopher Judge is helping build up excitement for the upcoming “Dad of War” sequel by sharing jokes in Kratos' voice on Twitter.God of War Ragnarokis set to launch on November 9, just days from now. It’s one of the biggest game releases of 2022, but even a massively marketed PlayStation exclusive could use an extra push at the finish line. Judge has taken the opportunity to celebrateGod of War Ragnarok’s launch by having fun with the community in an incredible way.
Four years ago, Polygon partnered with Judge to do something special. Judge was the new voice ofGod of War, which was already incredibly successful. As serious as the game’s story, and Kratos himself, may have been, the fan base loved to have fun withKratos being an awkward dad. As such, Polygon had Judge read several dad jokes in an incredibly serious tone while doing Kratos' voice. It was an incredibly successful sketch and currently has 13 million views. It also seems to have left its mark on Judge himself.

Judge has spent the past several days creating videos of himselftelling dad jokes in Kratos' voice, while recording images of theGod of War. The first day had a Kratos action figure, the second a Kratos plushie, and today’s video features a Kratos POP figure. Each video notes the number of days left untilGod of war Ragnarokarrives, which hopefully means Judge will continue making dad jokes all the way up til the game launches later this week.
Today’s video featured three great dad jokes from Judge. The first asks what the best thing is about Switzerland, with Kratos responding, “I don’t know, but the flag is a big plus.” Joke number two asks what a sprinter eats before a race. “Nothing, they fast,” according to Kratos. The last joke, hilariously, starts with Judge’s voice slightly cracking as if he’s holding back his own laughter. “Where do you learn to make a banana split? Sunday school.” The video ends with a Kratos guttural yell of, “Three days! THREE DAYS!”
The joke is becoming a little meta, but that’s unlikely to put anyone off. What went from Kratos struggling to have a relationship with Atreus in-game became joking about Kratos being an awkward dad, and has since becomeKratos' voice actorsharing more dad jokes because dad jokes are hilarious in general.
What’s particularly compelling about Judge’s performance is he knows exactly what fate lies in store for Kratos and Atreus inGod of War Ragnarok. AsGod of Warplayers know, both Kratos and Atreus learned something very serious about themselves at the end of the first game. OnceGod of War Ragnaroklaunches, players may need to come back to these dad jokes for some levity.
God of War Ragnarokreleases November 9 on PS4 and PS5.
