Sultan Saladin represents the military and strategic genius of Saladin, the founder of the Ayyubid dynasty and first sultan of Egypt and Syria. Saladin’s defeat of the European Crusaders, both through religious and military might, is represented in hisunique Leader ability, The Victorious.

Sultan Saladin’s Features and Abilities
As an alternate Persona for the original Saladin who launched withCivilization 6, Sultan Saladin shares all the other Arabian features, including the Civilization Ability,Unique Unit, and Unique Infrastructure. What makes Sultan Saladin different is his The Victorious bonus, which is useful in all forms of conflict.
How to Play as Sultan Saladin
While the original Saladin’s Leader ability allowed players to translate their Religious focus into versatile boosts to other yields, Sultan Saladin is all about conflict, both military and religious. After players have researched Military Tradition,Flanking and Support bonusestrigger whenever a pair of friendly units are adjacent to each other and to the target enemy unit. A Flanking bonus is granted to raise the attack strength if one of the friendly units attacks the enemy, while a Support bonus raises defense if the enemy attacks one of the friendly units. These bonuses can stack multiple times, and can easily turn the tide of a battle when boosted by Sultan Saladin’s The Victorious ability.
The universal strength of The Victorious means that Sultan Saladin players can dominate in both military and religious conflict, allowing them to pursue aDomination or a Religious Victorydepending on the situation. It’s also worth remembering that all of Arabia’s other abilities play into these strengths. A group of Mamluk can be near unstoppable with their self-healing and +100% Flanking and Support bonus, while The Last Prophet and Madrasa will guarantee that a Sultan Saladin player secures a strong Religion even if they focus on military units in the early game.
