Following the launch ofDestiny 2’s newLightfallexpansion, Bungie confirms it has had to disable the Jotunn exotic fusion rifle in the Crucible. Expansion launches can be a tumultuous time for live service games and theDestinyfranchise has a long history of similar issues. Old bugs can reappear in new ways, which appears to be the case with the Jotunn. TheDestiny 2exotic has had past problems when paired with the Exotic leg armor mod Solar Scavenger. The Jotunn fusion rifle first made an appearance duringDestiny 2’s Season of the Forge, which coincided with thelaunch of theForsakenexpansion. It deals Solar damage and uses special ammo, but its perks have made it especially attractive to PvP players. Its Charge Shot not only tracks enemies but also explodes and burns on impact. It’s also worth mentioning a leg armor modification named the Solar Scavenger that was added inLightfall, which grants additional ammo when picking up an ammo pack for a Solar weapon.RELATED:Destiny 2 Lore Buff Explains Crucial Info That Lightfall Failed to ConveyBungie officially confirmed that it has disabled the Jotunn exotic fusion rifle inDestiny 2’s PvP Crucible modeslate onLightfall’s launch day. No explanation for disabling the Jotunn was provided by Bungie. The studio’s support account on Twitter stated simply that there was an “issue” with the fusion rifle. No timeline for when the Jotunn will return was provided, either.

While Bungie didn’t provide an explanation for the Jotunn being disabled,Destiny 2players believe they know what the problem is. When using theJotunn fusion riflepaired with armor bearing the Solar Scavenger mod, players were receiving significantly more ammo than intended. The Scavenger perks are supposed to reward 2 special ammo instead of 1 per brick. The Jotunn, however, was proccing a robust 10 special ammo per brick.

It’s certainly possible that there are more issues going on with the Jotunn than just the Solar Scavenger mod issue. But at the very least the Solar Scavenger’s extra ammo for the Jotunn is more than enough explanation to justify the exotic fusion rifle’s removal from Crucible. Such a powerful weapon and near-endless ammo do not create a fair and competitive environment.

For the time being, the Jotunn is the only weapon to have been disabled following the launch ofLightfall. There are other issues, like the Arc Hunter’s Disorienting Blow melee attack being disabled, a progression problem tied to the HyperNet Current Strike, and random crashing when accessing the Journey Commendations tab, which also need to be addressed, though. But it seemsDestiny 2: Lightfallplayers have other issuesdemanding more attention, for the time being.

Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
