In a move that some may say is long overdue inDestiny 2,the Lake of Shadows Strike is getting an overhaul. Specifically, everyone’s favoriteDestiny 2boss to burn, Grask, is receiving a significant buff to its health.

The information comes from the latest TWAB (This Week At Bungie) post made bybeloved Community Manager Cozmo. Specifically, it says that the change has been made to bring the boss encounter more in line with other strikes and the modern sandbox gameplay. There aren’t specific details about exact numbers or even percentages, so it will be left to players to estimate how much of a buff this boss has received.

The Lake of Shadows Strikewas originally a PlayStation exclusive until the release of the Forsaken expansion in 2018. The strike takes place in the EDZ (European Dead Zone) and tasks the fireteam with clearing a taken infestation from the local reservoir. With the infestation cleared out, the water can be purified and be made available for the local population. Lake of Shadows is led by Devrim Kay and Zavala and has two unique opening lines of dialogue. It was one of the first instances of the Taken returning toDestiny.

The Strike and its Nightfall version have long been a popular choice for grinding out rewards due to its much shorter length when compared to other strikes. A team can plow through the entirety of the Strike in 5-10 minutes with minimal difficulty. Part of what makes the strike so speedy is the final boss' low health pool and lack of immunity phases. As such, players can often melt the boss before additional enemies spawn or any real mechanics come into play.

Aside from the changes made to Lake of Shadows, there was a whole bevy of changes in the patch 3.4.0 notes. In fact, there were over 6,000 words worth of patch notes to sift through and enjoy. Otherwise, the TWAB covered the Bungie 30th Anniversary event by breaking down what is available to all players whether they paid for the content or not. It also highlights the weapons inspired by previous Bungie franchises like thearray ofHalo-themed weaponry. There were changes to the Crucible and how Ritual Reputations are handled in addition to the standard rundown of known issues.

It’s hard not to be upset at the change as it seems like Bungie is making a change to punish players for “exploiting” a design choice for years. After all, why bother adjusting Grask’s health now? What’s the harm in letting players blow through a Strike when compared to longer Strikeslike The Corruptedand The Hallowed Lair? With that said, it will be interesting to see how fans react to the changes to Lake of Shadows. Buffing Grask’s health may finally let players experience the encounter as it was meant to be and thus provide more enjoyment in the long run. Time will tell as will the vocalDestinycommunity.

Destiny 2is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
