With no gem bags, and with exorbitant enchanting prices, characters are compelled to gather all sorts of trash to gain an extra buck, and this process necessitates frequent Town visits that use less-than-ideal vendor layouts.
The Towns inDiablo 4are undoubtedly impressive, but the brilliance of Lut Gholein was that all the important NPCs were centered around the Waypoint and Stash, while in places such as Kyovashad, they’re spread out wide. Though Towns play a factor in making the process of looting feel tedious in a hack-and-slash game, they are not the main culprit behind the community’s frustration. It’s not the sort function either, nor is it a search bar to help with Legendary Aspects – players instead feel that the loot filter should be addressed first and foremost.

A Druid player named KinGGaiA opened a thread on theDiablo 4subreddit, showing their clogged-up screen, and asking for Blizzard to implement a loot filter. It’s no surprise that many fans joined in the request, as a loot filter has been one of the most demanded features since the firstDiablo 4open betaevent in March. Furthermore, the image perfectly encapsulates the problem with gems inDiablo 4: they take up inventory space, they drop very often, and they don’t have auto pickup. Thankfully, gems will be turned into a crafting resource by the time Season 2 hits live servers, but the problem of the loot filter still looms without a solution.
Though itemization and inventory management has plenty of rough edges inDiablo 4, the dye system and cosmetic outfits have all been widely praised by the community. Compared to past games,Diablo 4lets fans personalize their Barbariansand Necromancers on an unprecedented level. Moreover,Diablo 4is clever enough to send all cosmetic skins to the Personal Storage if players forget to pick them up during their adventures, which certainly demonstrates that it can have convenient and thoughtful solutions to loot-related problems.
WithtwoDiablo 4expansionsin active development, Blizzard Entertainment has shown that it’s willing to support its latest title for many years to come.
