Activision Blizzard releasedDiablo Immortaljust days ago, and it’s already the target of controversy and review bombing with its microtransactions exceeding what many players are willing to pay. However, oneDiablo Immortalfan that was fine with the microtransactions paid money to start a Clan only to reportedly be kicked out of it when making a simple mistake.

Reddit user Mrcaruthers recently posted their early experience withDiablo Immortaland their frustration with Clans costing money despite aDiablo Immortalmechanic automatically kicking players from these Clans. Many players continue to create Clans and explore the time period betweenDiablo 2andDiablo 3inDiablo Immortalwith their friends. Some players, including Mrcaruthers, have opted to join the Shadow Lottery in an attempt to become a Shadow and join a Dark Clan inDiablo Immortal, but the Reddit user wasn’t entirely aware of what the limitations were before making the transition.

Mrcaruthers stated that they paid to start their own clan afterleveling up inDiablo Immortalto reach level 30 and shortly afterward became a Shadow when a friend recommended the change. According to Mrcaruthers, becoming a Shadow immediately kicked them out of their Clan despite being its leader, andDiablo Immortalgave no warning or hint that such an important thing would be changed. As a result of this mistake, Mrcaruthers filed a ticket with Activision Blizzard, but the Game Masters were unable to assist theDiablo Immortalfan with their issue.

The Game Master responding to Mrcaruthers' ticket stated that the Clan and Dark Clan systems are separated and that leaving a Clan upon becoming a Shadow is an intendedDiablo Immortalmechanic. The Clan will remain despite missing its leader, and the aforementioned Game Master let Mrcaruthers know that GMs are unable to refund Clan purchases due to in-game gold used inDiablo Immortalmicrotransactionsbeing non-refundable. Mrcaruthers has expressed their frustration with having to pay to start a Clan just to pay more for a Dark Clan, though manyDiablo Immortalplayers may not even join a Dark Clan due to the Shadow requirements.

BecauseDiablo Immortalplayers are essentially joining a new faction when becoming a Shadow, some players have pointed out that the game may simply be unable to mix players from different factions, a long-standing issue inWorld of Warcraft. ManyDiablo Immortalplayers responding to Mrcaruthers post have recommended that Activision Blizzard add some sort of warning for players that wish to become a Shadow but aren’t willing to leave their Clan because the quest chain isn’t informative enough. Given its recent launch, it’s likely that a pop-up will be created to prevent more cases that result inDiablo Immortalplayers losing progress.

Diablo Immortalis available now for Android, iOS, and PC.
