Over the past few days, players have been thoroughly enjoying both the newAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsas well asDoom: Eternal, both of which released on the same day and give drastically different gameplay on multiple different consoles. While many fans and artists have beencreating crossovers for the two gamesrecently, one fan has gone above and beyond traditional art and brought the two games together in retro style.
Modder and YouTuber, It’s Me Veronica, has created a special mod forDoomthat bringsAnimal Crossing’s iconic Isabelle into the bloody hellscape from the classic shooter series. Like most mods, this is only available on PC, even though theclassicDoomandDoom 2are available inDoom Eternal, only sadly without the small cartoon dog.

The new mod is specifically made forGZDoom, a modded version of the classicDoomcreated with an open source that is built to be more easily modded by anyone looking to add their own flair to the game. What’s best about Isabelle’s newest appearance inDoom 2is that the mod introduces her as a companion as opposed to being a simple skin swap for an already roaming enemy. As a companion, Isabelle puts herskills fromSuper Smash Bros.to good use by helping the player kill enemies withAnimal Crossinginspired attacks and even throwing out healing items for the player to pick up as they progress through a level.
It’s Me Veronica comments in the video that shows off this new mod that she would have liked to add more animations and abilities to the mod. That being said, the companion is fairly extensive, and fleshes outIsabelle’s roleas Doomguy’s helper as he uses weapons from theDoomfranchise,Duke Nukem, andWolfensteinto rip and tear through demons. Included with the Isabelle companion mod is a secondary mod that adds the character toMinecraft, for anyone who wants a blond dog in a green checkered shirt to follow them around in that somewhat more peaceful world.
So far, it doesn’t look like anyone has figured out how to get Isabelle intoDoom Eternalyet, even if players can play asthe original Doomguy. However, for fans who still love jumping into the classic versions of the series, Isabelle makes for a perfect companion to keep an air of levity in the otherwise dark game. Additionally, It’s Me Veronica has more companions already created that players can pull into the world ofDoomalongside theAnimal Crossingicon.
