In a short period of time, the Oculus Quest line of standalone virtual reality headsets has risen to become extremely popular. Though two versions of the headset already exist, new leaks of a possibleOculus QuestPro seem to indicate that Facebook’s development cycle is well on its way to producing the next headset.

Facebook is going all in on virtual reality, reshaping the future of the company tocreate a metaverse, where users can play and work alike via virtual reality. With these plans in action, it makes plenty of sense for the company to keep working on the hardware side as well with new headsets.

Several videos leaked directly from Oculus' official website, which have subsequently been saved and shared via The Verge. The videos are all completely computer generated, so an official physical representation of the headset hasn’t been revealed yet. However, the videos show CG versions of people wearing a headset that doesn’t strongly resemble either the Oculus Quest orOculus Quest 2headsets, leading to the belief that these videos will be utiilzed in promotions or to explain how to use an Oculus Quest Pro in the future.

As far as one can tell from the videos' representation, the new take on the Oculus Quest visor is a bit less bulky than before. The most interesting changes are outside the headset itself, however. The touch controllers currently used on both existing Quest headsets seem to have been changed, doing away with the rings at the end of theOculus controllers. They also appear to now have charging capabilities via a charging dock.

The Oculus Quest Pro appears to have the ability to use the headset without controllers, as with its predecessors, as the demonstrations show users trying out select experiencesusing their hands to navigate in VR. Interestingly enough, at one point the user’s real-world movements are mimicked by their in-system avatar, raising the possibility that Facebook may be trying to incorporate full body tracking with the next Oculus Quest.

Previously, Facebook’s VP of Reality Labs stated outright that there would be no news to share regarding the Oculus Quest Pro this year. While Facebook does have an event coming up shortly on October 28, it remains to be seen if these videos will be utilized, or if the new headset will make a surprise appearance. Those eager to be early adopters of new technology may want to take these videos with a grain of salt, as the pictured headset, controllers, and capabilities shown in the videos could simply be prototypes, placeholders, or even a working concept. The exact capabilities and appearance of the Oculus Quest Pro will only be known for sure once Facebook chooses to announce it to the world.
