Elden Ringis no stranger to humorous interactions, and an enemy inexplicably flying through the air after being hit with a Spectral Lance is just one more to add to the list. As impressive asElden Ringis, its technical performance was somewhat lackluster at release, and some are finding interesting glitches to this day.
Fans were thrilled earlier this month when a surprise DLC announcement was made shortly before the Game Awards. Not only did a trailer for the Colosseum update invigorate the community, but news that it would arrive the next day was an early New Year’s blessing. Tarnished poured into the newly opened Colosseums that dotted the Lands Between, and there have beensome incredible displays of skill byElden Ringplayers since. However, as is tradition with FromSoftware’s patches, new content meant new bugs for players to inevitably discover and exploit, including one that allowed crouch poke attacks to be performed impossibly fast. Although likely unrelated to the recent patch, oneElden Ringplayer practicing for PvP caused a peculiar interaction with the corpse of an enemy.

A Reddit post by HeroesBane captured the moment with perfect comedic timing. The video begins with the player becoming more accustomed to their weapons, practicing for their “upcoming Phantomblade PvP build.” Equipped with a Cross-Naginata, they aim to use the Unseen Blade sorcery to make their Spear virtually invisible. After getting a feel for the one-handed light attack moveset, the player launches a few Spectral Lances from the same Site of Gracewhere Tarnished are gifted Torrent.
In the process of firing the Ash of War,the player hits a Solider of Godrickguarding a stationary carriage. Killed with a single strike, the player then looks away and turns back to see the same Soldier of Godrick, now a corpse, flying through the air. The player stops when they notice and tilts their camera up to admire the trajectory, watching the ragdoll land within a collection of flowers just in front of them.
Comments praised the camera work which made it all the more hilarious, joking that the Soldier was terrified by a ghostly spear. Others likened the sight to a common occurrence inElder Scrollstitles, notorious for NPCs deciding to take to the skiesfor no apparent reason. Although the Spear was what defeated the enemy, it likely had nothing to do with them subsequently going airborne and can be assumed to be an unintended consequence of howElden Ringhandles NPC corpses that are out of sight.
Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
