Summary
Fans have discovered a throwback toDark Souls 2inElden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLCtrailer which many might have missed. From new enemies to a brand new map, the new expansion trailer promises a lot toElden Ringfans, but amid that, some are more excited about a much-requested feature making its return to the Soulsborne genre.
Dark Souls 2is by far one of the most, if not the most polarizing game in gaming history. While some really appreciate its revamped take on the Soulsborne genre, others aren’t quite receptive to its departure from the core premise of its predecessor. However, when it comes to the DLC, the case was totally different, as it was widely acclaimed by the community. Despite the conflicting opinions, there wereseveral mechanics inDark Souls 2that players wanted in subsequent titles. It seems like that is going to turn into reality pretty soon.

Right around the 1:55 timeframe,Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLCtrailer showcases an entirely new mechanic — proper hand-to-hand combat. While there are severalfist weapons inElden Ringsuch as the Star Fist and Caestus, they couldn’t really come close to whatDark Souls 2’s Bone Fist could pull off. However, in the trailer, players have spotted a dropkick animation, which will most likely be in the form of an Ashes of War.
Elden Ring Fans Strategizing Martial Art Builds After Shadow of the Erdtree DLC’s Trailer
Thedropkick has been one of the most popular attacks inDark Souls 2, which can be performed using the Bone Fist in theCrown of the Ivory King DLC. While players were eagerly expecting its comeback inDark Souls 3andElden Ring, their dreams of turning theSoulsarenas into martial arts clubs never came into reality again. However, it seems like FromSoftware has been actively paying attention to the community’s demands, and is finally bringing back the dropkick attack.
Fans are quite elated to see their favorite mechanic making a return, with many already planning their “Kung-Fu builds.” Some are also speculating what attribute the attack will scale with, hoping for it tocomplement their Faith builds inElden Ring. Not to forget, many are eagerly anticipating the return of the iconic “Hadouken/Kamehameha” attack associated with the Bone Fist as well. That being said, some fans are a bit skeptical about its inclusion, considering that fist weapons haven’t really been that effective in the genre apart fromDark Souls 2. While it surely adds a completely new dynamic to the gameplay, players are hoping that it is implemented in a way that is not only fun but also a viable option for both the PvP and PvE aspects of the game.
