NPC questlines make up a big part ofElden Ring’s story, often leading to unique and otherwise unobtainable items.With the latest patch 1.03, players can track the locations of many NPCs on their map, however, FromSoftware’s signature design continues to obscure the purpose of these NPCs and their related quests.
One such obtuse NPC is called Latenna, and can be found at the Slumbering Wolf’s Shack in Liurnia of the Lakes, resting on the ground beside the eponymous wolf. Speaking about a mysterious medallion, players may wonder how to obtain the item, but are offered no obvious solution.This guide will help players complete Latenna’s queston their journey to reclaim the shattered shards of theElden Ring.
Where to Find Slumbering Wolf’s Shack
to reach Latenna, players must first find the Slumbering Wolf’s Shack in Liurnia of the Lakes, one of the earlier areas in the game. To get here, they need togo through the Lakeside Crystal Cave, found on the cliffs justnorthwest of the ‘Liurnia Lake Shore’ Site of Grace, west-southwest of Laskyar Ruins, andsouth of the ‘Scenic Isle’ Site of Grace.

Dropping down onto the dimly lit ledges in the central pit and fighting their way through Demi-Human mobs, players will eventuallyface the Bloodhound Knightand reveal a passageleading out to the Shack and Latenna.
After resting at the Site of Grace here,players must venture to a nearby locationto meet a character called Albusand continue Latenna’s questline.
Where to Find Albus and Begin Latenna’s Questline
Albus can be found in the Village of the Albinauricsin the swamplands to thenortheast of the Shack. The village sits below a plateau only reachable through Ranni the Witch’s questline. Luckily,players do not have to complete any quests to reach the Village.
Avoiding the giant crabs,head up a ramp to the Village and find the Site of Gracein a shack by a Well and a forlorn spirit.
From this Grace, head east up another rampleading to a Perfumer beneath a crooked tree. After dealing with him,keep heading forward until reaching a sarcophagus and a potin an alcove -hit the pot and Albus will be released.
Exhausting his dialogue, he will ask the player to take the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right) to Latenna which will, when combined with the left half, unlock the Grand Lift of Rold leading to a secret area.
Note thattaking the Medallion will trigger a fight with Enshaat the Roundtable Hold the next time the player travels there.
Next,take the Medallion back to Latenna at the Slumbering Wolf’s Shackand she will abandon her wolf to join the player on their journey. She will give the Tarnished her Spirit Ashes, allowing them to summon her at the cost of 74 FP, and tell them they canfind the other half of the Medallion at Castle Sol in the north.

Latenna’s questline can be continued much later in the game when the player reaches the level 90 area ‘The Mountaintop of the Giants’ aftermaking their way through Leyndell Royal Capital.
Latenna’s spirit will inform the player that they are nearing Castle Sol, which can befound north-northwest of the Mountaintop Minor Erdtree, north of the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins Site of Grace, andwest of the ‘Freezing Lake’ Site of Grace.
After resting at the ‘Castle Sol Main Gate’ Site of Grace,follow the path through the courtyard and up the wooden stairs around to the left. Continue through the Castle until coming across the‘Church of the Eclipse’ Site of Grace in an alcove to the left.
After resting, head back out the archway and to the left, through the church and to the left again.Keep going up through a dimly lit towerwith cages hanging from the roof andhead out towards the Commander Niall boss fight.
Upon defeating him and his two knights,head further up and take the elevatoron the right. Ahead, after a flight of stairs, players will be able tofindHaligtree Secret Medallion (Right)next to another spiritlooking out to the sea.
Completing Latenna’s Questline
After claiming both halves of the Secret Medallion,head back to the Grand Lift of Roldand, instead of lifting the Rold Medallion given to the player by Melina,switch actions to lift the Secret Medallioninstead.This will reveal the path to Haligtreeand the Consecrated Snowfield beyond.
Once reachingthe Apostate Derelictto the northwest of Ordina, Liturgical Town,Latenna can be summonedat the foot of the giant Albinauric. After doing so,speak with her to be rewarded with a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, which allows players to fully upgrade their rarer weapons to +10.
