Even though the main heroine of this show, the witch Diana Bishop, is older than Alina Starkov, the shows still have a lot in common. However, she meets a man who changes her very existence.
For Alina, it’s General Kirigan, and for Diana, it’s the mysterious vampire Matthew Clairmont. The result is different, but the strong magical atmosphere and emphasis on the relationships between the characters are what connectsA Discovery Of WitchesandShadow and Bone.
6Fate: The Winx Saga
Available on Netflix, the show centers around several young people who are learning their magic skills at a hidden school. Just like Alina, they have to master their talent or they might not end up so well, especially since their school hides multiple secrets.

Another similarity is that both Alina and the heroines of this showdon’t always know who to trustand have to deal with a threat whose true origins remain unknown at first. The stakes are high inFate: The Winx Sagawhich makes it easy to binge-watch all six episodes of the first season.
5Julie And The Phantoms
If somebody wants to return from a brand new fantasy world into the one they know, but remain with a young heroine,Julie and the Phantomsis a good choice. After the death of her mother, young Julie cuts herself off from music until the ghosts of three band members appear in her house and start playing with her.
Both Alina and Julie are special, as Alina is the Light Bringer and Julie is the first person who sees the ghosts. They also try hard to coincide their personal and work life (for Alina) and school life (for Julie).

Even thoughLegaciesis a sequel toThe Vampire DiariesandThe Originals, it’s understandable even to viewers not familiar with these two shows. All that they need to know is that Hope Mikaelson is special because she’s a witch, a vampire, and a werewolf, making her unique.
That’s a feeling that Alina knows very well since she has powers no one else does.Legaciesgive space to multiple young characters, many of whom hide their true selves and secrets, making it fun for the audience to guess what will happen next and how the relationships between the heroes evolve over time.

Shadow and BoneandNOS4A2share two major similarities. They’re both based on a book, and work with protagonists who can do something no one else can. Vicky, one of the main heroes of this series, can find lost things (and potentially also people).

That will serve her well in fighting the immortal Charlie Manx, who feeds on the souls of children. While General Kirigan doesn’t do that, it’s been hinted at that he’s much older than he looks, close to immortal. What’s more, he’s also able to trick people into believing him, just like Charlie, and it takes Alina a while to realize who Kirigan truly is.
2Shadowhunters
Despite the somewhat familiar title, both series aren’t from the same universe. That doesn’t mean they’re not similar. Clary, the main heroine ofShadowhunters, becomes apart of a whole new worldwhen she joins the mysterious group.
A similar thing happens to Alina when she becomes one of the Grisha and has to deal with all aspects of her new life.Shadowhuntersis full of action but also takes the time to flesh out relationships between the characters, which is something both shows have in common.

Shadow and Bonehave a clear main heroine - Alina - whileThe Witcherhas three. But one of them, princess Ciri, is very similar to Alina in discovering her new powers that make her unique.
They also have to figure out whom they can trust since the world around them is even more dangerous than they’d originally believed. Just likeShadow and Bone,The Witcheris alsobased on a book seriesand it creates its own fantasy world that easily draws the audience in.
