The Disciplines inFinal Fantasy 14give players a lot of options for how to dress their characters, with classes like Armorer, Leatherworker, and Weaver letting players create their own armor that can be worn across several classes. However, onehigh profileFinal Fantasydeveloperhas taken the creation aspect of the Weaver class to launch a signature line of clothing.
Coming fromFinal Fantasyseries creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, this new outfit line has the incredible pun of a name SakaGUCCI, with unique creations that the developer posts and trades to other players online. This makes for a rare case where even though Sakaguchi hasn’t worked directly for Square Enix since 2003, the legendary developer is still creating content forFinal Fantasy 14fans to enjoy.

The clothes themselves are flashy outfits made by Sakaguchi himself with his Level 90 Weaver, which he then takes online and trades with select players and other acquaintances. Sakaguchi also requests that players who receive the SakaGUCCI gear don’t resell or give away the outfits, but after the first trade he did mention expecting to see the clothes on the market soon. Considering that anything made byFinal Fantasy 14’s crafting classesare effectively signed by the player, these items that have the SakaGUCCI signature on them could quickly become collectors items.
So far, Sakaguchi has conducted these outfit trades four times, with a fifth giveaway currently ongoing at the time of this writing for fans to participate in. Generally, the developer will make around ten of each outfit, giving away a handful to other players and some to personal acquaintances, all of whom gather to take a screenshot of the whole group wearing the clothes. These also aren’t the first clothes in the SakaGUCCI line, as the developer has sold outfits on theFinal Fantasy 14Market Board, although the newest line isn’t meant to go up for sale.
Considering how many ways there are for players to dress up betweenFinal Fantasy 14’s special eventsand across different classes, a clothing line from a high profile player seemed inevitable. Although, it is still interesting to see that one of the top lines to come out of the crafting system comes from a veteran of theFinal Fantasyseries, but not from a current developer of the game. Adding the limited nature to how Sakaguchi is trading the SakaGUCCI clothing line products, these outfits will likely become expensive trading commodities once the first player disregards the reselling request.
Final Fantasy 14is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
