Fortnite’s katana, the Kinetic Blade, is no longer available in-game, and players will not be using it again in Chapter 4 Season 2. When thisFortniteseason first went live, most players were impressed with how different the battle royale map felt. Epic Games modified half the map to fit MEGA season’s theme, and consequently, many of the newFortniteChapter 4 Season 2 POIsgave off a Japanese-inspired cyberpunk, futuristic vibe that most players enjoyed.
An item that also encapsulated this same feeling was the Kinetic Blade, which could be used as a mobility item as well as a melee weapon. This katana was powered by Kinetic Ore, and gamers could use its stored energy to dash and quickly travel through the map and knock back enemies to deal considerable damage to them. In a way, its versatility was quite similar toFortniteChapter 4 Season 1’s Shockwave Hammer, but it was simply much more balanced and not as buggy, until now.

The Kinetic Blade has now been removed from allFortnitebattle royale game modes. Although it’s not been confirmed, it is very likely that this is related to an exploit theFortnitecommunity discovered recently, which allowed gamers to easily eliminate an opponent with the Kinetic Blade by turning off their Wi-Fi, attacking their enemy, and then turning Wi-Fi back on. It may seem like a lot of work, but it gave players a way to take down enemies from any range without risk.
Gamers who fell victim to this exploit started reporting those that abused it, causing Epic Games to take action by banning players andremoving the Kinetic Blade fromFortnite’s tournaments. Players could take advantage of the exploit in any game mode, so it was strange that Epic decided not to remove the blade from the other game modes right away.
According to the officialFortniteStatus account, the Kinetic Blade will remain vaulted until the end of Chapter 4 Season 2. Thankfully, theSpider-Man Web-Shooters are back inFortniteonce again, giving gamers another mobility option besides Rogue Bikes, the Nitro Drifter, and the ODM Gear. Since the Kinetic Blade was a big deal this season, it was necessary to acquire it in-game to complete many season quests. Thankfully, quests that required the Kinetic Blade were replaced or autocompleted, and this way, players who hadn’t had time to finish them yet will still be able to collect their XP and level up their Battle Pass.
