Hunt: Showdown’s latest update is roughly 10GB in size and brings the game up to version 1.8.1 with some major changes to its challenge system. The Daily and Weekly Challenge system has been reworked into a new Summons system. Players will be able to “summon” quests to complete from a pool of five categories, with difficulties ranging from Simple to Legendary. The quests may involve defeatingHunt: Showdown’s various monsters, killing Grunts, finding boss lairs, and likely many more. Available quests will be on a rotating schedule which resets every Monday and completion will yield rewards such as Blood Bonds and in-game gear like explosives or pistols.

Also of note within the update are the additions of new Grunt AI variations. The Pistol Grunt wields a broken rusty pistol, attempting to melee attack hunters with its pistol which causes it to explode, causing a loud gunshot. The new Lantern Grunt carries a lantern, lit or unlit. A lit lantern will create a fire explosion while the unlit variant will create an oil pool on the ground that can be ignited. Although there still aren’t anynew maps forHunt: Showdownas of this update, some new weapons have been added: the Caldwell 92 New Army, a double-action 6-round revolver, and the Winfield 1893 Slate, a 6-round pump-action shotgun. As expected, tons of minor bug fixes and tweaks have also been implemented such as bullet casings now making noise when they hit the ground as well as some adjustments to AI behavior.

The new Summons system should give players more control over which challenges they’d like to pursue, and new weapons and enemies are always welcome additions to a first-person shooter. With regular updates and limited-time events happening all the time, evenincluding Shrek’s House in a DLC,Hunt: Showdowncontinues to engage a large number of players. The developers have hinted at plans for future changes arriving in Q3, so players can look forward to more new content later this year.

Hunt: Showdownis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
