For the last 10 years or so,Minecraftfans have dedicated a lot of their time to creating all sorts of interesting builds and contraptions. Give that it’sone of the biggest video games in terms of map size, it’s not surprising that so many are continuing to put work into some impressive projects, what with all that sprawling space to create in. Although it utilizes low resolution textures and 1x1 blocks, it’s entirely possible to make something that is surprisingly detailed, as this one player shows.

Uploading a few images to theMinecraftSubreddit recently, user obscure_paneer has managed to create a sizable build that shows how much skill the player has. In short, it’s a giant hand made out of stone, which juts out of the ground to almost pierce the very sky. Add to the fact that it’s also been constructed on its own small island, there is a certain ominous appeal to it. In general, it’s a pretty incredible build and of course, some in the comments have been breaking out the hand-based puns.

It’s definitely one of those large forms that does require some distance to really appreciate the realistic detail that’s gone into making it. Obviously, close-up it’s easy to see that it is just a series of 1x1 blocks, but from afar, the sheer scale of it can be marveled, especially against the surrounding biome. As with a lot ofgiantMinecraftbuilds, obscure_paneer did have some help making it in the form of an “online voxelizer” which turns a 3D model into in-game blocks, which can then be exported and used inMinecraft.

Given how massive the world is, the potential for some truly enormous constructions is near endless, but this example also shows that it’s possible to make something that has more realistic features. Another example was from Reddit user Roman_95 who was able to build anastonishingly detailedMinecraftEnder Dragon, which from a distance almost looks like a 3D render.

Some may think that after more than 10 years, there wouldn’t be much left to see or do in the expansive sandbox title. However, as agame with near infinite replayability, and players still discovering new things, it’s likely to be a very long time before theMinecraftwell truly dries up. With so many fans putting their skills and efforts into creating some amazing things, it’s hardly surprising that the game is still as popular today as it was when it first hit the scene.
