Summary
Diablo 4offers a wide selection of cosmetic outfits for all five of its classes, and one player mixed-and-matched a few pieces to painstakingly recreate Shao Kahn fromMortal Kombat. ThoughDiablo 4broke a fair few Blizzard recordswhen it launched in June 2023, the game’s popularity experienced a steep decline following the release of Season of the Malignant.Diablo 4’s endgame was criticized for being stale, as many players were either overwhelmed by the leveling grind, or burned out by the tedium of running Nightmare Dungeons over and over again. However, there was one aspect that players almost unanimously praised:Diablo 4’s art direction, and by extension, the character customization system.
Not only isDiablo 4’s character customization a major leap for theDiablofranchise, but the ability to fully customize the appearance of a class significantly contributed to the excitement that players had about the latest Blizzard title. While some in the community were already wary about the game’s monetization format, many fans were content with the compromise so long as the non-premium armor sets inDiablo 4were equally impressive. WithDiablo 4halfway through Season of Blood, the in-game shop has greatly expanded its collection, and some of these new additions have allowed players to create completely new looks.

Broken_Man23 used the new Hell’s Champion set for Barbarians inDiablo 4to complete an outfit that strongly resembles Shao Kahn from Mortal Kombat. Much like theKratos build made by anotherDiablo 4Barbarian, this Shao Kahn outfit submitted by Broken_Man23 relies on the stout, muscular physique of the masculine model, coupled with the loincloth warrior archetype, to achieve the look.
While the chest piece, gloves, and boots are interchangeable, there are two main premium cosmetics that make this set work:
With a total value of 5200 Platinum,Diablo 4players would have to purchase the 5700 Platinum pack for $49.99 to attempt a similar outfit. Though the community has often complained about theexorbitant prices ofDiablo 4’s cosmetics, it’s clear that Blizzard greatly benefits from the monetization model.
Ultimately, the next season will no doubt introduce more premium cosmetics to the store, which will in turn enableDiablo 4players to recreate even more characters from other franchises. In terms of new non-premium armor sets, theannouncement ofDiablo 4: Vessel of Hatredrevealed that the new Torajan Jungles region was coming to the game, and much likeReaper of Soulsbrought the popular Rakkisguard set toDiablo 3,Vessel of Hatredwill likely have its fair share of Zakarum inspired looks for players to fiddle around with.
