Leaks and rumors surrounding Capcom’s plans for 2020 have led to some interesting speculation. Those leaks, which have been confirmed by Capcom to a degree, include several upcoming yet unknown game announcements. One game fans have hoped thatCapcomwould revisit is Capcom’sDino Crisis,a cult favorite from 1999. A new leak, however, may have confirmed that at one point Capcom was moving forward with such a game, but that game was ultimately canceled.
The leak stems from Twitter user AestheticGamer, who is known for reliable Capcom leaks and rumors. AestheticGamer dropped two different leaks on Saturday, one of which was focused onDino Crisis. According to the leak, Capcom was actively working on a newDino Crisisgames as recently as a few years ago. Capcom ultimately “scrapped and buried” the project, however.

No information was provided regarding thisDino Crisisgame’s development schedule. It may have been solely in pre-production where few were actually working on it, or it may have been further along and thegame’s cancellationhit Capcom much harder. Either way, this dreamDino Crisistitle is no more.
AestheticGamer does provide one other bit ofDino Crisisinformation. They say that “the franchise, for now, is still extinct,” making clear that no newDino Crisis game has been started since the cancellation of the previous one. That doesn’t mean that Capcom won’t change its mind and start working on anewDino Crisisgametomorrow, though.
The other leak that AestheticGamer dropped in his tweet was regarding theResident Evil - Code: Veronica.Code: Veronicais the fourth major game in theResident Evilfranchise, but was meant as a spin-off rather than a direct continuation. Some fans have speculated that aCode: Veronicaremake might followResident Evil 3 Remake’s development. For the time being, that isn’t the case. AesheticGamer says thatCode: Veronicaisn’t even in pre-production at Capcom. Perhaps the studio will move in a different direction.
WhileDino Crisismay not be in development, that’s no reason for fans to grow (even more) disheartened. Capcom is on a streak with itsremakes forResident Evil, but there are only so many games in that franchise that work well with this new style of remake.Dino Crisiswill remain waiting for the opportunity to be remade, too. It’ll be there when Capcom needs it, and if and whenDino Crisisdoes get remade or rebooted, it’ll be all the more exciting.
Dino Crisiswas released in 1999 for Dreamcast, PC, and PlayStation.
