Publisher GameMill Entertainment has announced thatNickelodeon All-Star Brawl2is coming out this year. Following months ofrumors and leaks of anAll-Star Brawlsequel, developers Ludosity and Fair Play Labs finally made it official in an announcement trailer, offering a glimpse of what fans can expect.

While platform brawlers likeAll-Star Brawlhaven’t been the biggest hitsin the gaming sphere, general interest in the subgenre has seen a notable uptick in recent times. GameMill’s 2021 title offered the potential for a better version in a sequel, though the studio made little to no noise on a follow-up toAll-Star Brawlsince its release. But as rumors began to surface more frequently, particularly around roster additions likeSpongeBob’s Squidward and Raphael fromTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it appears the developer has moved to make an official teaser in hopes of building excitement.

According to GameMill,All-Star Brawl2 will ship with new SUPER abilities, updated mechanics, and new offensive and defensive options. The publisher promises “a fresh new take on platform fighting gameplay” and that it will include a single-player campaign that incorporates rogue-like mechanics into an original story. While the newAll-Star Brawlwill also feature minigames, boss rush, and a new arcade mode, other additions like full crossplay for all platforms and improved graphics should entice players all the same. While an exact release date hasn’t been specified yet,All-Star Brawl2 is scheduled to release later this year on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

As of now,All-Star Brawl2’s roster includes characters like Spongebob, Squidward, Rocko, Jenny, Zim, Reptar, and Garfield on its official website. Of course, the full roster is bound to feature a wider plethora of characters from its own franchises with previousAll-Star Brawl2 leakssuggesting that the likes of El Tigre and Vlad Plasmius fromDanny Phantomare also set to appear. If the announcement trailer is anything to go by, GameMill’s upcoming platform brawler won’t have any shortage of familiar characters and the publisher will likely follow up with more announcements in the coming months.

Interestingly, Nickelodeon isn’t the only universe GameMill has set its eyes on at the moment. The publisher also hasDreamworks All-Star Kart Racingin the workswhich will bring back Shrek into games after over a decade alongside other Dreamworks characters like Puss in Boots, Po and Tigress from theKung Fu Pandaseries, and others.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl2is currently in development for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
