The Blackbeard Pirates are one of the Yonko crewsthat rose in both influence and power shortly after the events of the Paramount War. This pirate group is rather new and was formed just 2 years before the current events of the story. Created by none other than Marshall D. Teach, this crew came into existence when he defected from the Whitebeard Pirates after killing Thatch, the Fourth Division Commander, and stole his Devil Fruit.

Blackbeard started a crew which, although small at the time, has now grown into one of the greatest forces on the seas and it consists of 10 powerful pirates under him, known as the 10 Titanic Captains.

Admiral Marshall D. Teach

Before talking about the 10 Titanic Captains, fans need to know about the structure of the Blackbeard Pirates itself. The Blackbeard Pirates started off as a very small crew with just five members beforethey became a Shichibukai crew. These members included the Captain, Marshall D. Teach himself, Jesus Burgess, the helmsman of the ship, Doc Q, the doctor of the ship, Van Augur, the sharpshooter of the ship and Lafitte, much of whose role remains unknown at this point in the story. When Blackbeard became a Shichibukai, his crew consisted of just these members. However, he later invaded Impel Down, a Government stronghold, and freed the strongest of prisoners inOne Piecefrom level 6.

There, he conducted a battle royal to see who the strongest of the level 6 prisoners were and took them on his ship. This completed the Blackbeard Pirates, for the most part. The crew then headed to Marineford to steal the Devil Fruit of the legendary Whitebeard and succeeded in doing so. In the following time, the Blackbeard Pirates fought in the New World for the territory of Whitebeard and established more control over the seas. Once again, they succeeded in doing so. They crushed the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates and, eventually, conquered Hachinosu, which was under Wang Zhi at the time. Soon,Blackbeard was named a Yonkoand became infamous as the Admiral of the Blackbeard Pirates, and his 10 Titanic captains were established to be under him.

The Ten Titanic Captains

Immediately after the events of Hachinosu, Blackbeard was made a Yonko and came to be feared all across the oceans as the Admiral of the Blackbeard Pirates. The most curious thing about this crew was the fact that they were stealing Devil Fruits left, right, and center. However, another big aspect of Blackbeard’s crew was the powerful Titanic Captains. The 10 Titanic Captains were formed during the 2-year timeskip and they included 10 powerful captains who each had their own ship under them and were charged with guarding the Admiral of the crew with their lives. These Titanic Captains are powerful in their own right and are worthy of leading pirate ships on their own. In fact, the 10 Titanic captains sometimes act independently on different missions, as has been seen on several occasions already. Currently, the 10 Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates are made up of Burgess, Shiryu, Van Augur,Avalo Pizarro, Lafitte, Catarina Devon, San Juan Wolf, Vasco Shot, Doc Q, and Kuzan.

The core of the crew includes the members that Blackbeard had with him from the beginning of his journey. These include Jesus Burgess, who is the captain of the First Ship and the Helmsman of the Blackbeard Pirates. Then comes Van Augur, who is the captain of the Third Ship and the sharpshooter of the Blackbeard Pirates. Following him is Lafitte, who is the captain of the Fifth Ship and possesses powers pertaining to hypnosis, and finally, there is Doc Q, who is the captain of the Ninth Ship and the doctor of the Blackbeard Pirates.

Among those who joined Blackbeard after the invasion of Impel Down are Shiryu, who is the Second Ship Captain and the swordsman of the crew, Avalo Pizarro, the Corrupt King of South Blue, who is the captain of the Fourth Ship and a powerful pirate, Crescent Moon Hunter Catarina Devon, who is the captain of the Sixth Ship, Vasco Shot, the captain of the Eighth Ship, and San Juan Wolf, the captain of the Seventh Ship.

The last Titanic Captain of the Blackbeard crew joined them one year ago on a mysterious island in the New World, where he was attacked by a few members of the crew. This person was none other than Kuzan, the former Marine Admiral. After getting along well with Blackbeard, Kuzan was offered a choice to join them and fulfill his goals as a free man as long as they had similar interests. He ended up taking the offer and became the 10th Titanic Captain of the Blackbeard Pirates, thus completing the crew.
