After gathering the materials needed to craft the Origin Ball,Pokemon Legends: Arceusplayers will need to return to the Temple of Sinnoh for the game’s final main story boss. Exactly which Pokemon they end up facing will depend onwhether they chose Adaman or Irida earlier onand the Legendary Pokemon that they caught on their first visit to the temple.

Those who chose Adaman will find themselves up against Palkia, while players that opted for Irida will need to quell the mighty Dialga instead. Regardless of which one they chose, the boss will transform into its Origin Forme prior to the battle, withPokemon Legends: Arceusplayers once again needing to calm it down using special balms before they can even think about catching it.

How To Beat Origin Forme Palkia / Dialga in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Despite serving as the game’s final main story boss, Origin Forme Palkia and Dialga arguably aren’t actually as tough asthe fights against Avaluggand Electrode that preceded it. That’s not to say that it’s easy or anything, but players should have a lot less trouble dodging their attacks than those of some of the Noble Pokemon that they fought earlier on.

In terms of attacks, Palkia and Dialga have three or four main ones. The first sees the Pokemon teleport right next to the player and then knock them to the ground. Luckily, it will bow down for a second or two before teleporting, so players should prepare to dodge whenever they see this and thenhit the Y button right as the boss disappears. It often uses this attack at the very beginning of the battle, so players should be on their guard.

The creation Pokemon’s next attack sees it summon a barrage of blazing comets from the sky. As with the explosions fromthe Electrode boss fight a little earlier on in the Coronet Highlands, glowing circles on the ground will indicate the expected blast radius of these comets. This preemptive warning should allow players to easily clear the area bydodging or running away from the impact sites.

Initially, the comets will fall in the area surrounding the player, but will later fall in straight lines that cut through the position where the boss is standing. In the case of the latter, their impact with the ground will lead to much larger explosions and the pink flames that they leave behind will last a little longer too.Players should avoid these pink flames while continuing to keep an eye on where the next comets will fall.

After the comets have subsided, the boss will begin releasing expanding rings of blue energy similar tothose used by Lilligant in the Crimson Mirelands. Players will once again need tojump over the energy rings by pressingthe Y button and aiming the analog stick towards the boss, though will have much less time to do so due to the increased frequency at which the rings are released. It’s therefore a good idea tostand a little further backthis time around for some extra reaction time.

As in previous battles, it’s also possible to create an opening in which players can throw in one of their Pokemon and do battle with the boss. It’s a little trickier to trigger here though, as players will need to hit the boss from behind in the brief window in which it’s charging up its regular comet attack. It really isn’t necessary, but if players do choose to battle, they shouldbring along a Fighting or Ground-type if they’re up against Dialga or a Dragon or Fairy-type to deal with Palkia.

What makes this fight a little easier than some of the ones before it are the ampleopportunities that players are given to throw balms. They’ll have a second or twoafter the boss uses its teleport attackand can also get in quite a few hitswhenever it’s firing off comets; particularly the ones that fall in straight lines. Players should probably avoid trying to throw balms during the blue energy ring attack, but will be able to get in plenty of hitsin the five or six seconds following the final ring.

Once players have depleted the yellow Frenzy meter, the boss will fall to the ground, and they’ll automatically throwthe Origin Ballto catch it. The sky will then return to normal and the credits will start to roll, bringing an end to the game’s main story. About five minutes later, players will regain control in their Galaxy Team lodgings and will then be able to get started onPokemon Legends: Arceus' expansive post-game content.
