A rating board has leaked two games coming toPS5sometime in the future. Sony and third-party publishers have already released several critically acclaimed games on PS5. Although, many of them are cross-generation titles orremasters of games that originally came out on PS4.PS5 is backward compatible with PS4, so these games can run on Sony’s newest console. While a game cannot use the full power of the PS5 hardware unless it gets a native port, this version can still run better than its PS4 counterpart. Sony even released an update that allowed PS4 versions of games to use the120hz mode when played on PS5, but having a native port tends to come with its own benefits. This information comes from Gematsu, and it further reveals thatShadow Warrior 3will also come to Xbox Series X and S. Curiously, an Xbox Series version ofTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revengeis not listed on the website, though the game is available on Xbox One.
Shadow Warrior 3is a first-person shooter that launched to mixed reviews in March. On the other hand,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revengegot extremely high scoreswhen it was released in June. Both of these games should get performance boosts and graphical enhancements when they release on current-gen hardware, althoughShadow Warrior 3looks to gain the most from an upgrade given its genre.
It’ll be interesting to see if the respective publishers decide to charge anything extra for these upgrades. However, ports of newly released games are often eligible for afree upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. Publishers do tend to charge if they are remastering a game from a few years ago, which doesn’t seem to be the case here.
Shadow Warrior 3was a part of the PlayStation Plus Extra lineup when the service launched earlier this year. So, some PS5 owners may have already played the game without these upcoming upgrades. However,Shadow Warrior 3left PS Plus Extra on July 5, a month after it transitioned to a three-tiered service. This new release gives the publisher an opportunity to bring it back to the PS Plus Extra catalog with the improved PS5 version.
