Facepunch Studios is continuing in its endeavor to keepRustalive and well with yet another major patch, called the Industrial update, which comes with a wealth of new content. Considered by many fans to be one of themost brutal survival gamesaround, the open-world title could easily be off-putting to newcomers, who will find those first few nights rather punishing. Whether it’s struggling to forage for enough food and water, the dangerous wildlife,++ or trigger-happy players, many quickly realize the dangers that lie await for them in the game.
Rustlaunched in early access in December 2013, with the end of 2022 marking the game’s ninth anniversary. The final release was in February 2018, with console ports launching mid-2021. With the survival title now approaching its 10th birthday towards the end of this year, the developer has a vested interest in keeping its property fresh and interesting. Luckily, the studio is more than keen to keep the updates rolling out, which include this latest one.

Recently, fans will have noticed a new patch going live forRust, which brings with it some industrial tweaks to the game. A post on Steam says this update unlocks “new avenues for automation” as new tools get implemented, such as the storage adapter, industrial conveyor, a pipe tool, and more. Essentially, the end goal is to allow players to move items around their base and craft items automatically by connecting up these industrial assets via pipes. There’s also a new electric furnace that’s been added which works similarly to other furnaces, only with a “slightly accelerated smelting rate.”
The Steam post also shows the hardware metrics and how the game is “CPU bottlenecked.” Facepunch has noted how the majority of its players are using systems that have 16 GB of RAM or less. The developer seems curious about how Unity is “hogging” all the RAM. This could mean something in the pipeline forfutureRustupdates, but it’s too early to say at this stage. For now, the new patch will keep a lot of fans coming back for more in this savage world of survival.
Despite its brutal nature,Rustis considered by many to be one of thebest survival games of all time, up there withThe Forest,DayZ, and evenMinecraft. It might be difficult to stay alive as long as possible, at least at first, but there is something satisfying about being able to make it in an environment that, quite frankly, wants to kill the player as quickly as possible.
