WhileThe Elder Scrollsseries has grown to become an extremely recognizable franchise, thanks in large part to the success ofThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, its release schedule is rather inconsistent. With no sign of the sixth entry inThe Elder Scrollsseries releasing anytime soon, most fans turn to mods as a way of getting more content out of these games. However, players will probably have to wait a long while for one particularly ambitiousElder Scrollsmod to release.
For how much popularitySkyrimhas received within the last ten years, some players tend to overlook some of the earlier entries in the series. The thirdElder Scrollsentry,Morrowind, while not as influential comparatively, still found success within the gaming community. Though, there is a mod currently in development, that will combine the overworlds of bothMorrowindandSkyrim, which the team has dubbedSkywind.

Skywindis a passion project that is currently being produced by a team of developers and has been in development for nearly a decade. The most recent update video going over the development of the mod premiered on the TESRSkywindOfficial YouTube channel. For how much progress has been made in an effort to splice thebreathtaking locations fromThe Elder Scrolls 3: MorrowindintoSkyrim, the player base likely won’t be able to experience the mod for quite some time.
The overworld featured inMorrowind, while smaller than the world ofSkyrim, is still rather large and an intense amount of effort will be required to complete such a project. Admittedly, a lot of impressiveSkyrimmodshave released over the years that clearly showcase the diligence of the modding community, but the one thing they all have in common is that they all take a great deal of time. While the content featured in the update video is impressive, it’s unlikely the full version will release anytime soon.
Although, it is still amazing to see how much theSkyrimcommunity has done to enhance the game through modding over the years. With someSkyrimmods evolving into full standalone games, such was the case withThe Forgotten City. Then again, given how many mods forSkyrimhave already released within the last ten years, it begs to question when the next entry inTheElder Scrollsseries will release.
After being announced at E3 2018, there’s been next to no official news regardingThe Elder Scrolls 6, other then the fact that it’s currently in development. Bethesda has managed to prosper off of the success ofSkyrimfor almost a decade, with the game being ported to a wide variety of different systems. In fact, it’s likely thatSkywindmight release well beforeThe Elder Scrolls6.
