Posted to the r/skyrim subreddit by user airkoi, a video shows the Dragonborn fighting Sahloknir – the second dragon that players must fight duringSkyrim’s main quest. In the clip, fans see airkoi towards the end of the battle with Sahloknir, a dragon raised from the dead bySkyrim’s main antagonist Alduin. Firing arrows at the diving beast, airkoi chips away at his substantial healthbar as Delphine lands the killing blow. As she does, airkoi looses one final arrow from his bowstring and a killcam plays, following the arrow as it lands a deadly shot on a nearby bunny.
Far from the Dragonborn of legend, this clip makes airkoi look more like Elmer Fudd than the heir to an ancient dragon-killing superpower. As the arrow flies an impressive distance across the battlefield, it hits the rabbit in the leg, sending it and the game camera spinning and clipping through geometry. Though not shown in the clip, Delphine’s post-battle amazement atthe Dragonborn’s abilitiesadds to the absurdity of the scene.
Seeing the arrow hit the rabbit’s leg, commenter Greening 101 tops the replies section with the quip, “That rabbit used to be an adventurer,” referencing the most memorable line of guard dialogue in the game. Another commenter adds to ridiculousness by punning “An adventur-hare.”
Aftermore than a decade ofSkyrimbugs, jokes and ridiculous emergent gameplay moments, for a video like this to receive such attention and good-hearted humor is a testament toSkyrim’s timelessness. A mainstay of pop culture and a flagstone in the RPG landscape, even when Bethesda’s awkward and clunky design breaks immersion, players can still find the joy in this classic game.
