A Star Wars Sim Game Could Be a Fantastically Unique Experience

Star Warsgames have mostly stayed within the same set of genres, and have seldom deviated. Recently, fans have been treated tothe FPSStar Wars: Battlefront 2,the action-adventureStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the fast-pacedStar Wars: Squadrons, and the puzzle platformerLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Fans can also look forward to upcoming projects likeStar Wars Jedi: SurvivorandStar Wars: Eclipse,and many more unannounced projects. There is no shortage ofStar Warsvideo games on the horizon, but none of them seem to be trying to blaze any new trails in terms of genre.

IfStar Warsreally wants to take its video games to the next level, then it should consider going after some unlikely genres. Neither experience went all in on the genre’s potential, but an actualStar Warssim game could.

AStar Warssim management title could put players in control of all sorts of different things. Players might build up their own version of the Death Star, manage a trading vessel,control their own Coruscant-like planet, take charge of a town on Tatooine, or control the day-to-day life of a criminal enterprise. There is a ton of potential for some wild scenarios in this franchise, and hopefully a studio delivers on that potential.

Most fans would probably prefer to take control of a Force user or be a part of pivotal moments in the galaxy, but that does not mean thataStar Warssim gamewould be a waste of time. Some players love to micromanage virtual worlds, and putting aStar Warsskin on that could lead to an exciting experience. It would likely not be as big of a hit as a game likeStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderis, but it would be well worth it. While it is unlikely to happen, the sim genre is waiting forStar Wars.
