Buggy live service launches are a common occurrence in the modern gaming era, but, all things considered, Sledgehammer Games’ 2021 FPS outingCall of Duty: Vanguardhas remained relatively airtight in that regard since its debut in November. Aside from a few infamous instances of players abusingCall of Duty: Vanguard’s so-called “elevator glitch”and a briefly botched Search and Destroy mode, most problems manifest as minor visual flaws, case in point being an odd bug pointed out by Reddit user u/OptimusZombiieee that saw operator Polina Petrova’s head rendered on Wade Jackson’s shoulders.
While certainly odd when inspected up-close, this post on theCall of Duty: Vanguardsubreddit is a testament to the poster’s awareness; spotting such a small inconsistency in the frenzy of a Das Haus multiplayer match is no small feat. Plus, this is far from the strangest operator combo possible. Were Polina to have fused with the Godzilla operator skin, for instance, that would have really been a sight to behold.

Some fans may recall that those skins actually caused a bit of controversy when they debuted alongside the introduction of the game’s third season. ManyCall of Duty: Vanguardplayers bemoaned the Godzilla cosmetic, as the skin’s neon-blue look made players using it much easier to spot. Still, of the more than two-dozen unique operator included thus far inCall of Duty: Vanguard, Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, and King Kong may not be the most out of place.
The accolade of least-believableCall of Dutyoperator would have to go to rapper Snoop Dogg, who was introduced as a playable operator during season two. Helming his own cleverly-titled SOTF 420 faction, Snoop Dogg feels wildly anachronistic given the game’s World War II setting. Snoop actually isn’t a stranger to the world of gaming; he’s an occasional Twitch streamer, and he’s even had a role in games likeTrue Crime: Streets of LAandCall of Duty: Ghosts.
Beyond that, while this weird Polina and Wade operator mishmash may be strange, it also serves as a reminder thatCall of Duty: Vanguard’s weirdest operator skins are likely yet to come. As evidenced by the inclusion of 80s action icons like John Rambo and John McClane and horror villainGhostface in 2020’sCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Activision and its developers prefer to wait until the end of a game’s lifecycle to introduce the wackier skins.
