Red Dead Redemption 2is an action-packed game featuring plenty of gun fights, horseracing, and duels at high noon. Though players will spend lots of time slinging revolvers and lassoing stallions, there are also calm moments to be had back at theVan der Linde camp. There, players can complete simple chores, chat with fellow gang members, and also interact with Cain, who is the gang’s adorable dog. Cain is a nice addition, but it would be nice if the game showed a bit more attention to cats.
Red Dead Redemption 2is certainly not unique in this regard. Traditionally, games have placed greater emphasis on dogs, which is somewhat understandable, as they are trainable and typically more open to being touched. However, this doesn’t mean that cats need to be neglected. FutureRed Dead Redemptiongames could do a lot more to make cats a part of a cowboy’s life.

InRed Dead Redemption 2, players can have complex interactions with NPCs. It is possible to choose between friendly and hostile responses to strangers or, if players wish, they can jump straight to violence. Although players can spend plenty of time chatting with their gang and the various people in the settlements, there is also plenty of fun to be had inRDR 2’s wilderness which is richly populated with diverse wildlife. Animals end up playing an important role in the game’s narrative and narrative.

Animals inRed Dead Redemption 2can be huntedfor food and clothing. However, not all animals are equal, and players are punished with negative honor if they kill horses (which cannot be used for raw materials), dogs, and animals that already belong to others. Animals are also used to convey themes in the game. For example, if players end the game with negative honor, Arthur’s last ride will feature wolf imagery, but if players have positive honor they will see a stag instead.
One of the reasons why dogs are so widely adored is because they often seem to love everyone regardless of who they are. In comparison, cats are very discerning, and they can be very selective when it comes to who they feel comfortable approaching. Consequently, it takes a bit more hard work before one can bond with a cat, and simple bribery with food usually isn’t enough. Developers could use this in thenextRed Dead Redemptiongameto illustrate the maturation of the protagonist.
As the title suggests, theRed Dead Redemptiongames deal with the topic of redemption and this could be conveyed through cats. When players begin, the protagonist could be disgraced, and unable to go near any cats. However, as he repents and finds redemption, cats could slowly start warming up to the protagonist, and eventually they may accept his touch. In addition to highlighting the protagonist’s growth, it would also be a nice treat for cat lovers.

Past Rockstar games, includingRed Dead RedemptionandGTA 5have given players ample opportunities to interact with dogs. It is time for cats to receive their rightful time in the spotlight.
