Rogue Legacy 2is the ‘spiritual successor’ to the originalRogue Legacy, releasing nine years after the original. This metroidvania, roguelite 2.5D adventure game has players taking control over a family lineage where stages and successors are randomly generated. Each Heir then goes through dungeons to meet their doom, with the home, Heirlooms, and gold of their forebears.
Cellar Door Games created a transformative sequel that not only takes a modern spin on its popular game, but brings back some of the elements from the first game that made it such a hit. After each death, an ‘Heir’ is chosen with randomly generated combinations of class, spells, and, most interestingly, traits. Although there are plenty oftraits that make eachRogue Legacy 2dungeon run betterthan the last, there are a few that are absolutely hilarious and need to be experienced first-hand.

Funniest Rogue Legacy 2 Traits
Prior toRogue Legacy 2’s full releasein April 2022, the game was in Steam Early Access for a little under two years. At first, it was very similar to its predecessor, but as time went on with it in Early Access, more game content was added, making it bigger and better than ever before – including a lot more traits. While some are funny simply because of their name, others help create a unique run.
Right off the bat, Clumsy is one of the funniest traits inRogue Legacy 2, but also perhaps the most frustrating. An Heir with the Clumsy trait will break objects by simple touch and receives no other bonus perk. While this may sound great at first, since players don’t have to constantly think aboutsmashingRogue Legacy 2furniture for gold, this also means that certain platforms will break upon impact instead of after they are jumped on.
One trait inRogue Legacy 2that is inspired by the cult favoriteUndertaleis Disattuned. “Mind into matter,” reads the description of the trait, as the Heir becomes a silhouette with only a small, visible heart. This trait is great for mostRogue Legacy 2classes, despite having the negative impact of reducing the Heir’s health by 25%. This is because it also features a positive that greatly decreases the Heir’s hitbox – that visible heart. Heirs with this trait can survive most projectiles and hazards since they can only be “hit in the heart” according to the game’s description.
IBS is a trait for those who like fart jokes. Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or IBS, is a trait where the Heir will occasionally let one rip as they jump or dash. A well-timed, well-aimed fart can inflict Burn to an enemy – dealing consecutive damage over three seconds. ButRogue Legacy 2’s fart jokes don’t end there, for there is also the Super IBS trait. Heirs with the Super IBS trait will have their damage equal to 100% Intelligence, cause Burn, and each fart will launch the player upwards – becoming a decent substitute for those yet toget Aether’s Wings (Double Jump).
However, the funniest trait has to be Diva. Not only do Diva Heirs get 50% gold increase, the entire screen will be black. The exception is a number of spotlights that will highlight the player, all the enemies, and projectiles – and will remain so until the room is cleared. Once a player clears a room, they will be showered with roses and receive applause from an invisible crowd.Rogue Legacy 2is a game thatfans of roguelites likeHollow Knightshould play. Traits are only part of what makes it great, as Cellar Door Games made a game that provides near-endless replayability.
Rogue Legacy 2is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
