SinceValheimfirst launched on Steam, the game’s developers have continued trying to make the title just a little bit better. The newestValheimupdate, just released this week, makes it so that the monsters in the game’s world behave better when attacking various structures.
Since its launch,Valheimhas received several updatesthat have tweaked things here or there. Those updates have added to a game that’s already been one of the best sellers on Steam.

The newest patch was announced on Steam by the team’s developers and was described as a minor tweak toValheim. The developers said they had heard feedback from fans and made a change to the in-world AI. The AI update was said to make the monsters “behave” better when a player is hiding inside or behind a structure. Those creatures will also adapt what they go after when a character is near, but not inside someplace taking refuge.
Patch 0.156.2 makes it so monsters should always attack creatures, including player characters first if there is a clear path to those creatures. The other part of the patch makes itso thatValheimtrolls and other rather intimidating monsterswill go after low-level structures only if the player is using them as an obstacle.
It appears there were complaints before this patch went live that some monsters were attacking structures for no reason. That allowed players to get a bit of a jump on their enemies and take them down while the focus was elsewhere. Developers are apparently looking to make the Viking-themed survival game all the more realistic.
The new update continues what has been a trend of developer Iron Gate AB’ssinceValheimfirst hit the Steam store. The company has been regularly releasing updates and patches and rarely goes more than two weeks between the tweaks and changes. Almost all of those have been attempts to make the game world to behave a bit more like a real one. Obviously, the fact that there are monsters out there means Valheim isn’t ultra-realistic but the company appears to want to verify it’s realistic in context. That includes monsters not completely ignoring the player characters once they come across a house or other buildings and walls that might come into sight. Now, it’s just a matter of seeing whether Patch 0.156.2 does what the developers intended as far as making the enemy creatures more discerning in what, when, and where they make their attacks.
Valheimis available now on PC.
