There will be several Xbox events held as part of Summer Game Fest, Geoff Keighley has confirmed. Keighleyannounced the Summer Game Festlast week, revealing that it will be a four-month long event of game reveals and announcements.
In an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit, a fan asked Keighley if the Xbox Series X gameplay reveal this week is part of Summer Game Fest or ifXboxwould also be doing something else. Keighley responded to confirm that the gameplay reveal is part of Summer Game Fest but “it’s safe to say they have multiple events planned inside Summer Game Fest.” The Summer Game Fest creator didn’t reveal what these events would be, but said that Xbox will be sharing more this week.

The next Xbox event will likely be something about Xbox Series X exclusives. After announcing the Xbox Series X gameplay reveal, Xbox confirmed that itwould not be showing any games from Xbox Game Studiosat the event. Fans would have to wait until summer to see new games from developers like, Obsidian Entertainment and The Initiative. While fans may be disappointed that they’ll have to wait for news about these titles, the Xbox team must feel that it’s better not to make all of its announcements at once.
Some may argue that the way that the Xbox team has planned this, with staggered reveals throughout the summer, shows why something like Summer Game Fest is preferable over thecanceled E3 2020. While E3 2020 would have likely seen Xbox to cram all of its Xbox Series X reveals into a single press conference, Summer Game Fest gives the brand a little more breathing room. In interviews about Summer Game Fest, Keighley called the single, 90 minute press conference style an “old school view” and spoke of how many gaming companies have shifted to holding multiple events.
Xbox fans have a lot of questions about the Xbox Series X, so choosing to host multiple events will also help them get answers. The Xbox Series X price andrelease dateare important but fans also want the Xbox team to respond to rumors of a second new Xbox console.
This will likely lead to more questions such ashow powerful the other console isand what games will look like on it. It hasn’t been confirmed just what Xbox will be sharing at its other Summer Game Fest events, but it seems that fans should be very excited.
